Tour Plan
After your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, there will be our guide waiting to take you to your hotel in Green Mountain lodge.
After your breakfast in the hotel around 8.00am, you will leave for Arusha National Park, which is a 40-minute drive from Arusha town. Consequently, the park boasts an incredible variety of fauna and flora, which cannot fail to impress visitors. The entrance gate leads into a shadowy montane forest inhabited by inquisitive blue monkeys and colorful turacos and trogons. This is the only place on the northern safari circuit where the acrobatic black-and-white colobus monkey is easily seen.
For example, in the midst of the forest stands the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater, whose steep rocky cliffs enclose a wide marshy floor dotted with herds of buffalo and warthog. However, further north, rolling grassy hills enclose the tranquil beauty of the Momela Lakes, each one having a different hue of green or blue. The lakes are sometimes tinged pink with thousands of flamingos. The lakes support a rich selection of resident and migrant waterfowl and also shaggy waterbucks that display their large lyre-shaped horns on the watery fringes.
Giraffes glide gracefully across the grassy hills. Consequently, they move between grazing zebra herds, whilst pairs of wide-eyed dik-dik dart into the scrubby bush like overgrown hares on spindly legs. You will also be able to see buffaloes, waterbucks, giraffes, warthogs, and zebras year-round. Moreover, the park is a birdwatcher’s paradise with its diverse avian life.
After your full-day game drive, our driver-guide will drive you back to your hotel for dinner and overnight at Green Mountain Hotel. The hotel offers comfortable accommodations and a serene environment, perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure. You can reflect on the day’s sightings and experiences. Additionally, this prepares you for another exciting day ahead.
Pick up from your Arusha hotel will be at 8.00am, followed by a scenic three-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Certainly, this journey will take you through beautiful landscapes, offering glimpses of the local way of life and the vibrant environment. Upon arrival at the park, you will embark on a full-day game drive, giving you ample time to explore the park's diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife.
Tarangire National Park, located 115 kilometers from Arusha, spans an impressive 2,800 square kilometers. The park's name originates from the Tarangire River, a vital water source for the park's inhabitants. Subsequently, this river attracts numerous wild animals, especially during the dry season, making it a prime spot for wildlife viewing.
One of the park's major attractions is its large elephant population. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to observe these magnificent creatures up close as they interact, feed, and bathe. Tarangire is also renowned for its tree-climbing pythons, a rare and fascinating sight. Similarly, the park's landscape is dotted with iconic baobab trees, some of which are centuries old and add a dramatic backdrop to the scenery.
In addition to elephants and pythons, you can expect to see a variety of other wildlife. The park is home to lions, often seen lounging under trees or stalking prey, and elusive leopards that may be spotted resting on branches. Herds of zebras, wildebeest, and antelopes roam the plains, while warthogs and giraffes are frequently seen grazing.
Bird enthusiasts will also be delighted by the rich avian life, with over 500 bird species recorded in the park. After an exhilarating day of wildlife viewing, you will drive to Marera View Lodge. Here, you will enjoy a delicious dinner and unwind in comfortable accommodations. The lodge offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure.
